Originally from Georgia, Chandler Wilks is a 19-year-old Division I equestrian athlete at Texas Christian University, where she is pursuing a degree in Political Science. Raised in the horse industry by her mother, a professional horse trainer, Chandler was introduced to the sport at an early age and developed a deep appreciation for the dedication, discipline, and partnership that define successful horsemanship.
Although she stepped away from riding between the ages of seven and nine, returning to the saddle reignited a passion that quickly evolved into a nationally recognized junior career. Since then, Chandler has competed in hunters, pony hunters, jumpers, and equitation at many of the sport’s most prestigious venues, showing more than 150 different horses and ponies throughout her career. Her ability to adapt to a wide variety of mounts has become one of the defining characteristics of her riding.
At just 10 years old, Chandler won the Over Fences and Large Regular Pony divisions at the USEF Pony Finals, marking the beginning of an accomplished junior career. Her résumé includes winning the 2022 USEF Marshall & Sterling Pony Medal Final, earning Reserve Champion honors in the Large Regular Pony division at the 2018 Pony Finals and the Small Green Pony division at the 2024 Pony Finals, and being named High Point Scoring Junior Rider at the USHJA Green Hunter Incentive Finals. Additional highlights include a 10th-place finish at Jump Seat Finals, multiple Top 10 placings at Junior Hunter Finals, a class victory at the Devon Horse Show, ribbons at Indoor Championships, and a third-place finish at the Maclay Regionals, along with numerous other top-ten finishes at Pony Finals over the years.
Beyond the competitive achievements, horses have played an instrumental role in shaping Chandler’s character. The sport has instilled the values of perseverance, resilience, patience, and unwavering work ethic, reinforcing the belief that success is earned through consistency, preparation, and showing up each day ready to give one hundred percent.
Today, Chandler continues to compete at the collegiate level for TCU while embracing every opportunity to grow as both an athlete and a student. Her lifelong commitment to the sport, combined with a passion for continuous learning and exceptional horsemanship, remains the foundation of her journey in and out of the show ring
